A Swiss hosting and infrastructure company, founded in 2007, which owns its hardware, operates it itself and answers the phone. It is not spectacular; it is what allows our clients to know where they stand.
What we are
D&D Virtual Worlds Sàrl is a Swiss company, under Swiss control, hosting websites, applications, email, servers and infrastructure for companies and organisations, mainly in Switzerland.
The IT hardware and infrastructure are owned outright by the company and installed in a Swiss data centre. The team is in Switzerland, systems administration is carried out from Switzerland, and so is support.
We are a modest size, and that is a deliberate choice with visible consequences: you talk to someone who knows your file, we accept configurations that fall outside the standard, and we turn down projects we could not deliver. In return, we are not the cheapest hosting provider on the market, and we are not trying to be.
What we care about
Saying what is the case
Including when it sells less well: we state publicly that standard spam filtering may pass through a service located in Germany, and that a Swiss alternative exists.
Not promising what we cannot deliver
No “zero interruption” for everyone, no regulatory compliance guaranteed by a hosting contract, no SLA lifted from a brochure.
Staying in our lane
We are an infrastructure hosting provider. We do no application integration and we do not approach our partners’ clients.
Owning what we operate
The hardware is ours. That costs more than reselling capacity, and it is what lets us answer the location question precisely.
Lasting
The infrastructure has been running since 2007. Some clients have been with us almost as long.
Staying reachable
A phone number and an email address, both of which reach people who operate the infrastructure.
How we got here
D&D was founded in 2007 as a hosting company. The business was built around website and email hosting, then moved towards infrastructure: virtual machines, dedicated servers, business application hosting and colocation.
Over the years, two activities took on particular importance. First the hosting of Odoo instances, often on behalf of integrators, to the point of representing several dozen instances today. Then domain name management, with several hundred domains administered for our clients.
The company has also marketed more specific products in the past, notably an IP telephony solution and a centralised camera recording solution. Those products are no longer what D&D does; the business today is hosting and infrastructure.
