Cloud and VPS hosted in Switzerland
A virtual machine at D&D is a server of your own, on hardware we own, in a Swiss data centre. You get full access; we operate everything underneath.
What a virtual machine includes
Full access
You are the administrator of your machine. The operating system, packages and applications are yours to manage — unless you also entrust systems administration to us.
Sized resources
CPU, memory and storage are set from your actual workload, and can be adjusted later.
Daily backup
The machine is backed up every day on D&D’s Swiss infrastructure.
Restart on another host
If a virtualisation host fails, the machine can restart on another host in the infrastructure.
Connectivity
IPv4 addressing, IPv6 depending on the infrastructure concerned, and the data centre’s redundant connectivity.
Isolation
Your data lives on your machine. No external administrative access to the hypervisor that carries it.
Pricing
Configuration and price to match your requirements.
We do not publish standard packages: a correctly sized machine costs less than an oversized package and holds up better than an undersized one. Tell us what you run, and we will produce the configuration and the price.
Who does what
The split is agreed at the start of the project and can be adjusted. Here is the default case.
D&D
- Providing and operating the virtualisation infrastructure
- Creating and sizing the virtual machine
- Storage and daily backup
- Restoration on request
- Connectivity and addressing
- Monitoring of the underlying infrastructure
You (or your provider)
- Operating system administration
- Installed applications and their configuration
- Application updates
- Application security and access management
- Application-specific backups, where relevant
Systems administration can also be entrusted to us: that is the case for most of the Odoo instances we host.

Virtualisation
| Platform | The virtualisation infrastructure currently runs on VMware. A move to Proxmox is being considered in the longer term; it would be carried out without service discontinuity for existing machines. |
|---|---|
| Isolation | Each client has their own virtual machines. No external administrative access to the hypervisors. |
| Hardware failure recovery | The machine can restart on another host in the infrastructure. |
Resources
| CPU, memory, storage | Sized case by case. Adjustable during the life of the machine. |
|---|---|
| Operating systems | Common Linux distributions and Windows Server, depending on the project and licensing. |
| Addressing | IPv4. IPv6 depending on the infrastructure concerned. |
Data
| Location | Machines, storage and backups hosted in Switzerland. |
|---|---|
| Backup | Daily, on D&D’s Swiss infrastructure. |
| Retention | The retention policy is defined with you, according to your obligations. |
| Replication | Optional, to another Swiss infrastructure. See the backup and high availability page. |
