Email

Professional email hosted in Switzerland

Business email on infrastructure that D&D operates itself, with the authentication records set up correctly and someone to talk to when a message does not arrive.

What the service includes

SMTP and IMAP

Sending and receiving over encrypted connections, compatible with Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail and mobile clients.

Webmail

Access to your mail from a browser, with no client configuration.

SPF, DKIM, DMARC

The three records that now decide whether your messages arrive or land in the junk folder. We set them up and we maintain them.

Spam filtering

Filtering of incoming mail. Two options are available, described below — the question of where they sit is worth asking.

Domain and mailbox administration

Creating, changing and removing mailboxes, aliases and redirections, and managing the domains attached to the mail service.

Backup

Backup according to the plan agreed, on D&D’s Swiss infrastructure.

Migration

Takeover of your existing mailboxes from your current provider, preserving folders and messages.

Application SMTP

Sending email from your applications — notifications, invoices, alerts — with correct authentication configuration.

Spam filtering: a detail that matters

The standard spam filtering on our mail platform may rely on a service located in Germany. In practice, that means incoming messages pass through that service to be analysed before reaching you.

We say so because it is true, and because a company that chooses a Swiss hosting provider for reasons of data location is entitled to know this before signing, not after.

A fully Swiss filtering solution is available for clients who want it. If the location of the mail processing chain is one of your constraints, tell us: it is a choice, not an exception.

Where your email actually sits

Mailboxes, their contents and their backups are hosted on D&D’s Swiss infrastructure, on hardware we own.

Spam filtering, on the other hand, may involve a service located in Germany in its standard configuration — the point detailed above, and the only part of the mail chain that leaves Switzerland by default.

Incoming and outgoing mail also passes, by its very nature, through your correspondents’ mail servers, wherever those are. No hosting provider can promise otherwise: email is an open protocol, and it takes two parties to exchange a message.

Our position is simple: we tell you where things are, and you decide.

Why choose D&D for email

It is not a question of gigabytes. On that ground, the large platforms will always offer more.

  • Professional hosting — email is treated as infrastructure, not as an add-on thrown in with web hosting.
  • A technical contact — when a message does not arrive, someone can look at the logs and tell you why.
  • Adaptability — particular configurations, application sending, specific rules, retention constraints: these requests are handled, not refused for being outside the standard offering.
  • Control of the infrastructure — we operate the mail servers ourselves, which means we can act rather than raise a ticket with a third party.
  • Domain management — email and domain names are handled by the same team, which avoids DNS record mistakes.
  • Support in Switzerland — in your language, in your time zone.

Capacity and pricing

Storage sized according to the plan and your requirements.

Mailbox capacity is matched to the number of users and the needs of your organisation. We do not advertise a generic quota and we do not use the word “unlimited”: we would rather agree on a capacity that matches your actual usage and can grow with it.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer a groupware suite with shared calendars and contacts?

That is not a standard feature of our email offering today, and we would rather not present it as one.

If shared calendars and contacts are part of your requirements, tell us: it is a request we can look into, depending on your situation.

How large are the mailboxes?

They are sized according to the number of users and the needs of your organisation, and they can grow.

We do not advertise a generic quota, and we do not use the term “unlimited” unless it corresponds to a genuinely defined technical and contractual policy.

Can you take over our existing mailboxes?

Yes. Migration from an existing provider is a routine part of our work, preserving the folder structure and the messages. The sequence is planned with you to keep the interruption short.

Is the spam filtering in Switzerland?

In its standard configuration, filtering may rely on a service located in Germany.

A fully Swiss filtering solution is available for clients who ask for it. If that is a constraint for you, say so when requesting an offer.

Can we send email from our applications?

Yes. Application sending — notifications, invoices, alerts, transactional messages — is a common use. We put in place the authentication records needed for those messages to be delivered properly.
